Pre-Licensing Frequently Asked Questions

Is the course approved for credit?
Yes, the courses are approved for prelicensing or post licensing credit.

How does a course work?
You take the course at your own pace and on your own time. There is a minimum timer that is listed on each page. Once the timer reaches zero, you will be able to move to the next page. You can take the course in small increments or for longer sessions. If you exit out of the course, then log back in at a later time, you start back in the module that you had been taking. Once you login, click the course outline to expand (+ or -), select the Module and then select Start Course.

I ordered the Complete Package. Do I need to have the textbooks to get started? How do the textbooks work in conjunction with the online course?
The online course is designed to stand alone, so you can get started as soon as you receive order confirmation. The New York Real Estate Sales: The Complete Guide is the required textbook for the classroom course and is intended to complement the online course by providing an additional convenient way to learn the material. The New York Real Estate Sales: Review Crammer is designed to help you when it's time to prepare for your exam by providing a concise review of all the key concepts and hundreds of practice questions.

I ordered the Complete Package. How soon will I receive my textbooks? What carrier will be delivering them?
Your books will arrive within 3-5 business days through UPS. You will receive an email confirmation that includes a UPS tracking number when the books are shipped. Remember, you don't have to wait for your books to get started.

I ordered the Complete Package with the textbook. What if my books don't arrive?

What if I decide to cancel my order? How does that work?
For specific details regarding refunds, please check the School Policies tab.

Do I have to take the course from beginning to end or can I skip around?
We strongly recommend that you take each of the course modules in order, as concepts frequently build from beginning to end. Please do not skip from module to module until you have completed all content within a module. There is a minimum timer that is listed on each page. Once the timer reaches zero, you will be able to move to the next page.

How long will it take me to complete a course?
Prelicensing and post licensing courses have been approved for a specific number of hours. Depending on the pace you review the course; it may take you less or more time to complete the course. There is a minimum timer that is listed on each page. Once the timer reaches zero, you will be able to move to the next page.

What is required to complete the course?
You need to review all of the course content, pass all module quizzes, and take the final exam. You must pass each module quiz with a score of 70% or better in order to be credited with completing the module. You may take the module quiz as many times as necessary in order to pass, but note that you will see new questions and questions in a different order each time that you take it.

NOTE: Depending upon your state, final exams may be presented in the online course or may be paper-based at a pre-determined proctor location.

What should I do if I receive an Incomplete Topic Alert?
Sometimes, the connection to the course will timeout, the system will not be able to mark page(s) as read. If you get to the last page in a unit and receive an Incomplete Topic Alert error message that prevents you from continuing, please open the Index and confirm that every page in the unit has a checkmark. If you see a page without a checkmark, simply select that page and visit it again (timer will need to count down to zero). You can then use the Index to return to the last page of the unit when all pages are checked and continue with the module. If every page is checked and you still get an error, you can contact Technical Support for assistance.

How do I adjust the volume of the video clips?
You can adjust the volume of the video by clicking the bars to the right of the video. You can also pause the video or rewind it, if necessary, as well.

When trying to watch a video, I see only a blank window with a View Transcript button. What's wrong?
More than likely, you do not have the correct version of Flash installed to view the video clip. Click here to download the latest version of Flash. When you are finished, you will need to restart your computer and then log back into your course. If this doesn't resolve the problem, please contact Technical Support.

I have just completed a module and can't take the End of Module quiz. What's happening?
You must visit every page in the module and pass the module quiz in order to get credit for completing the module. Open the Index and confirm that every page in the module has a checkmark. If you see a page without a checkmark, simply select that page and visit it again (timer will need to count down to zero).

Why is a module I've already finished showing "In Progress" in my course outline?
The course outline reflects your current status each time you start a new session, this means it is not in real time. To update your outline within the same session, simply refresh your browser or logout and then login again. Once you login, click the course outline to expand and see the new status reflected. If this doesn't resolve the problem, please contact Technical Support.

Is there audio in the course(s)?
For pre-licensing courses, audio is used only for video clips.

I was working in the course and the course froze. What can I do?
It sounds like the course, connection or the Internet browser timed out. Close all course windows and log back in. Once you login, click the course outline to expand (+ or -), select the module, and then select Start Course.

I walked away from my computer without closing the course. Now when I come back, the course is frozen. What happened?
Your course or connection timed out. To prevent this from happening in the future, please make sure that you exit your training course window if you are going to be away for an extended period of time. Close all course windows and log back in. Once you login, click the course outline to expand (+ or -), select the module, and then select Start Course.

If the course freezes, will it save where I left off?
Yes, every course page that you visit is recorded in our database as a completed page. In addition, the course "bookmarks" the last page you visited, allowing you to return to where you left off when you exit it even if the course locks up for some reason. Once you login, click the course outline to expand (+ or -), select the module, and then select Start Course.

What happens if I get disconnected from the Internet while I am taking a course?
If you get disconnected from the Internet, just log back in. When you sign in to the course, you will be returned to where you left off. Once you login, click the course outline to expand (+ or -), select the module, and then select Start Course.

Can I print any of the course material for future reference?
All of the modules in the prelicensing and post licensing courses contain downloadable PDF materials for your use. For example, every module contains a module summary. You can choose to save these files locally and/or print the contents of these files for future reference.

I have completed my course and did not print my certificate or course completion form. How do I get those forms if I've already closed the course?
You can return to the course to print off any required documents until your course expires. When you open a completed course, you will typically be taken to the last page in the course, which is where your certificate or course completion form resides. Otherwise, remember that you can use the Index to navigate.

What if I can't print my certificate or course completion form?
Contact Technical Support for assistance at 1-866-455-3278.
